U.S. involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan is now mostly irrelevant
Our country needs to deal with the energy crisis and economy now. Our foreign intrigues have become a distraction and waste of precious resources. The government is stretched too thin for luxuries such as foreign invasions.

Well, although I agree that the US could probably stand to work on itself some more, while working to heal some of our reputation in the international community (though I have to accept that some people will hate us, no matter what), I don't think the US's involvement in those two countries is irrelevant, at all.
The US's presence in Iraq is currently one of the only things holding the country fairly together. I think that a civil war is eminent, and although I would rather not see it, at this point, it is jeopardizing the US more than the war would, even though we have essentially sparked this.
As for Afghanistan, I would have agreed with you a year ago, but the US's failure to close in and finish the Taliban, and go to Iraq has kept them alive. Although we have a greater coalition in Afghanistan (Canada, namely), the fact that we didn't have the "Mission Accomplished" is now making Afghanistan much more relevant.

Oh, ok
Well, why do you think civil war is imminent? Things are looking more stable than ever.

If things are looking more stable than ever why isn't there a troop draw down?

Actually, there has been a drawdown. And it is scheduled to continue at the end of the summer. And another measure of change is the number of Coalition soldiers in combat operations as opposed to reconstruction operations.
