You made no mention of legal status in your example and of course that has no bearing on the topic here....here's something to chew on

"The study also showed that immigrants tend to be just as entrepreneurial as Americans.
Approximately 11 percent of all immigrants are self-employed compared to 13 percent of Americans.
Cubans are the most entrepreneurial, with 17.3 percent of that community being self employed."

How else do Cubans get here?

Either way, it's not proving your point...you make it sound as though the US becoming a trading partner for Cuba all of a sudden brings properity to the entire nation

Yes, one who makes it to shore has a chance to remain in the US by qualifying for legal permanent residence....thanks for showing that it's possible to take a boat to the US and become a legal resident

What is far more disturbing is the relationship between the Bush family and the ruling family and oil sheiks of Saudi Arabia that can be traced back decades.

Of course, there is this clearly showing disrespect towards the US.

The hand clasp with the oil kingdom's 81-year-old de facto ruler had two objectives: a break from recent record-high world oil prices, and a message of U.S. support for the Saudi royal family as it faces a growing internal terrorist threat.

Ok fine so I'll include you as one of the liberals ( maybe the only one ) who doesn't believe the Saudi gov't funds terrorism. I'm sure I could go back and check your posts that might contradict this, but instead I'll just refer you to Venezuela

Feckweed, you could have saved us all a lot of time in this thread by just being honest and saying "Yes, I really am that ignorant." Instead, you used 8-10 more posts to prove it.

Nope, just showing you have no basis in your claim that Cuba becoming a US trade partner would slow down the flow of illegal immigrants...but I do like your example of the benefit to the US...we'd have less Cubans to deal with

I noticed you failed to answer my question to back your claim.

Fletch brings it strong once again.

And, you can argue the Russkies were 100x more justified in doing what they did as (A) An issue with a bordering country is much more important to their national security than ours with a country thousands of miles away and (B) Georgia started it.

Sure they could have made up intelligence, but they didn't. Does your point have something to do with Sadaam Hussein getting called out on his bluff? I'm sure if the Georgian president wanted everybody to believe they were manufacturing WMD's the international community might think differently of the incursion

No we are in Iraq because they were a threat to America and that is a good cover to take their oil. Too bad everyone saw thru it and now we've spent more on a sensless war than 50 rounds of stimulus checks.

True Russia has lots oil, but Saudi Arabia has lots lots more. Why not just cut out the middle man and go get it? I mean they actually had a direct link to 9/11.

Apparently, McCain was in Michigan yesterday and was asked about the conflict.

He said (paraphrasing since I heard it on the radio) "The 21st century is no time for unprovoked invasions."

No, my point has something to do with the fact that no one could stop the US from invading Iraq back then, and now, no one can stop Russia from invading Georgia (or any other nation it so chooses).

The reason Russia didn't fabricate anything is because THEY DIDN'T NEED TO. The rules were changed...by the good ol' US of A.
