Troops abroad favor Obama 6 to 1!
Where are all of the "Democrats hate the troops" and "the troops will never support Obama" folks now??
Study: Troops Deployed Abroad Gave Six Times More To Obama Than To McCain
By Greg Sargent - August 14, 2008, 11:22AM
This is really, really perplexing. It turns out that according to a new analysis, troops deployed abroad have donated six times more money to the candidate who wants to bring the troops home from Iraq: According to an analysis of campaign contributions by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, Democrat Barack Obama has received nearly six times as much money from troops deployed overseas at the time of their contributions than has Republican John McCain, and the fiercely anti-war Ron Paul, though he suspended his campaign for the Republican nomination months ago, has received more than four times McCain's haul. Despite McCain's status as a decorated veteran and a historically Republican bent among the military, members of the armed services overall -- whether stationed overseas or at home -- are also favoring Obama with their campaign contributions in 2008, by a $55,000 margin. Although 59 percent of federal contributions by military personnel has gone to Republicans this cycle, of money from the military to the presumed presidential nominees, 57 percent has gone to Obama.

Same place as when a republican kicked everyone's ass in military funding during the primaries.

Um....we're not talking about a lot of money or donors here - I'm quite confident that McCain will be taking at least 60% of the military vote. Funny how you forgot to cut and paste this part of the story:
Contributions from U.S. Troops Deployed Abroad
| Recipient | Total | Number |
|---|
| Obama, Barack | $60,642 | 134 | | Paul, Ron | $45,512 | 99 | | McCain, John | $10,665 | 26 | | Huckabee, Mike | $7,950 | 10 | | Thompson, Fred | $6,350 | 7 | | Romney, Mitt | $5,550 | 10 | | Clinton, Hillary | $3,240 | 6 |

Yeah that is pretty crazy - 150,000 or so troops in Iraq and McCain could only bring in $10K. Maybe you should send them an email or text or something and let them know that real American patriots give McCain money. Make sure that you tell them that you're an internet message board warrior so they know how much you're putting on the line for the US of A.

Yeah, we went through this meaningless non-story last election cycle. This "story" refers to 323 total donations, which is pretty meaningless on its own. When you also consider the fact that donations under $200 by military personnel are confidential, one has no idea who attracted more campaign dollars or whether it is at all reflective of how they'll vote as a group.
Feel free to get excited about Chance Gardener raising enough military dough to pay someone to paint over the American flags on his jet, but let's check back after the election and review the voting statistics.
