WTF are you talking about? The USA is the world's largest exporter, world's largest importer, world's largest economy and has the world's best military.

Hey, thats great. The vinyl record was the leading music medium until it was replaced by the cassette, and the cassette was the leader, until the CD.

China is well on its way to replacing the US in all areas that you mentioned. And currently they do it cheaper, which capitalism loves.

If only our military wasn't stretched so thin - then we could attack Russia and help those Georgians out.

Some more of that rock solid analysis that only Fletchie can provide.

My point is that Russia doesn't fear the US (in terms of a military response) because the obvious front runner for the Presidency (hence leader of our foriegn policy) and his party are "anit-war". Their public posture is one that if the U.S. is not directly attacked, then they (the Dems) are unwilling to move into an armed conflict. Therefore, Russia doesn't fear the U.S.
Personally, I think it IS in the interest of the U.S. for reasons that are too deep and analytical to debate on a website (this one anyway).
Thanks for your thoughtful response.

Sadly there is a crowd who is blaming Obama for the Georgia thing by saying Russia is anticipating him being President and acting on the belief he won't do anything. Which is about the stupidest logic I've ever heard from either side of the aisle.

Sorry if I wrongly lumped you in with that crowd.

I would agree with you for once. Russia is not scared of us no matter who is president. With that said, I believe that Russia would rather see Obama over McCain, but the election has nothing to do with the bullying they are doing. If that was really their strategy, they would wait to cause trouble until AFTER the election because this invasion is giving McCain a bump.
