Has The Daily Show jumped the shark?
I can't sit through it any more. I used to love it. And the Colbert Report is just as intolerable.
Same jokes. Same predictable BS. And Jon Stewart's interviews suck so even if the guest is good, you'll just hear Jon trying to be funny.
Some of Stewarts swipes are funny. But overall the show has jumped the shark....

Are you kidding me?
I find the show to be funnier than ever. tDaily Show, IMHO is better than Colbert. Regardless, it is the 1 hour of non-sports TV that I look forward to the most.

I used to be a regular viewer but I thought it jumped the Shark after the writers strike sabbatical and now watch rarely

I don't think its's Stewart's material that's getting old, it's the politicians doing the same stupid things over and over thats getting old

Colbert is great! Jon Stewart has lost his edge a bit.
For those who don't enjoy either show, I would suggest that maybe your politics are clouding your judgment. Lighten up a bit.

I think the reason I liked it so much is that it was edgy and new. The fake interviews were the best. And the comedy was funny.
But comedy is typically funny because it's edgy. After it becomes predictable and formula, it's not funny any more.
Maybe I'm ahead on the curve, but the show is basically the same it was when it started, not much changed.
The only thing I like are some of Stewart's jokes.
He needs to mix it up and try different stuff.

It hasn't been funny since Craig Kilbourn hosted it.

No, but Stewart had changed his style a bit.

I'm the opposite. I used to watch both. I don't even watch my recordings of Daily Show anymore. But I still watch Colbert.

I agree. I think the correspondants on the show back then were top notch - Brian Unger, A. Whitney Brown, and Stephen Colbert.
Also the show takes itself a little too seriously now (even if Stewart is in denial about it)... With Kilborn they were ripping on models, actors, stupid celebs, for more light-hearted comedy... now they bring some political mogul like John Bolton on and have Stewart debate him... which just seems to reflect a desire by Stewart to feel important. Plus it feels weird when the guy who ripped on crossfire is now trying to BE crossfire.
Also what made it get really old really fast for me is how Stewart only has one play in the playbook for comic timing. It goes like this: Joke Premise -> awkward feigned self-conscious pause or stammering like "um... um..." -> Punch Line.

I agree. Also the punch line typically is some video of a person that totally contradicts what the person said in the prior video.
Some of his jokes are funny, but it is so canned. And its funny when you don't like the person, but Stewart can be a bit over-zealous and unforgiving to ppl that don't deserve it. No one is perfect and Stewart is often scathing rather than humorous.
But like you said, it's becoming a parody of itself. I often watch it to get news coverage. I missed most of the DNC and watched Stewart to see what happened.
It's kind of like SNL to me, there are some good points, but overall it's become tired.

Stewart gets too political. His show seems like it has become more focused on left-wing propaganda than actual comedy. I used to like watching the Daily Show, now I just stick with Colbert.

I don't understand why Dennis Miller would be logical at all - part of the problem with the Daily show is how political it's become and how seriously it takes itself. As was said earlier, Kilborn saw some of the best years because of the less serious, less political, lighter nature of the show.
...unless you're trying to make this another mindless Right vs Left thing, which would be lame, off-topic and par for the course.

little turbo jet flame on. Just get your facts straight.
You will flame out if you think I care what you think or how you vote and I'm pretty sure you never agree with me anyway.
While you're at it you'd better write another check to the RNC to keep up.

I live how this comes from a guy who says "I don't fight on message boards. Life is too short. I only got personal with someone one time, and I apologized."

This pretty much sums you up. All you can think in is black and white, "you're either with us or against us" terms. If you've read any of my posts and have half a brain, you know I'm not donating to either of the two parties.
