I must've missed something. Which poster is claiming to be an employee of the Obama campaign?

There are a lot of sad posts in here from both sides.
Horrible argument set ups and rebuttals.
"I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races, that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race."
Abe Lincoln once said this in a campaign debate.
His face is carved in a mountain and he's got a huge house in DC where he grew 5 times his size and never moves. Some people call him the greatest, or a great one- you could tell Colbert which.
Just sayin' means just sayin' whatever to get elected.
Oh and for the kids- Lincoln, Abraham (1858-09-18). "Fourth Debate with Stephen A. Douglas". National Park Service. Retrieved on 2008-05-21.

McCain = Bush's 3rd term in my opinion.
So McCain gets elected, the people making over $250,000 get more tax breaks, we keep our dependence on foreign oil, we do a damn thing to change the healthcare system and the 42 million Americans without it.
You don't think the USA is messed up enough yet? Just wait for McCain.
|
Isn't Obama against more drilling in the USA? How is that gonna help break our independence from foreign oil? No alternatives are going to replace oil in the coming years so we best start producing more of our own until that day comes. Why don't we sell Alaska back to the Russians, let them drill in ANWAR, then we can buy it from them. Make the world more dependent on them instead of the USA. I am not big on either candidate but I need to see how Obama is going to lower the price of gas for this country. Releasing oil from the reserves is nothing more than a short term supply increase. You really want to increase supply then drill. Looks like the polls are showing people want more drilling and more Dems are starting to see they better support it or they are toast.

Mojo,
You are doomed to be voting for smoke and mirrors the rest of your life if your vision is that myopic. NO CANDIDATE can lower the price of gas by drilling. The folk who control the drilling also control the refineries and the are FOR PROFIT corporations.
If you believe we need to keep taxes at current levels, eliminate the estate tax (which affects less than 2% of Americans), further reduce corporate taxes, give more incentives to healthy corporations which are partially responsible for the high cost of fuel and pay for all that with reductions in federal spending like student loans and other "entitlement" programs then vote McCain.
But don't think either candidate has a sure fire short term solution for the price of gas.

Just be careful. People in your position are very, very expendable if they do anything that could be interpreted as harmful to the candidate.

That's how I can be serious. Really. McCain wants to be president because he wants to be president.

Provided that's not taken out of context, like if it was followed up with "that marked a turning point for me where I became more selfless," yadda yadda yadda, I would think someone *cough*Ash-Liz*cough* might want to bring that to the attention of the Obama camp.

mmhmm. How easy would it be to portray Clinton as a leader of nuts with some of the things that have been exhibited by some of her supporters? That's not to say you've done anything remotely on par with it. Certainly nothing on this board, anyway. But a typo, or a vigorous defense, or whatever you want to call it, and in theory it could snowball into something.

I certainly hope that's not against the rules - I was a Bush precinct captain in 2004.

Obama hasnt changed anything in Illinois. He comes out of the same political sewer that has promoted corruption, inside sweetheart deals, bloated patronage government, and arrogance. Highest sales tax in the country. Where is the change? He supported and promoted an incompetent for Cook County Board President. He thinks $4 a gallon gas is OK.
McCain is just OK. He would have been better if he had won in 2000 and spared us W. But he got slimed. Lesser of two evils, like it always is.

Bush helped double the price of gas

In the UK, 50% of the price of gas is TAX (sales and VAT). Last I checked, the dems have been in charge of congress for the last couple years. Maybe the $4 gas prices just sneaked up on them. The US and Europe are apples and oranges. Europe has a very good train and mass transit infrastructure. The US, as a whole does not. Its an auto driven transportation system. Maybe instead of your typical, lame, tired, weak, and worn "its Bush's fault" mantra, you should look at some other factors; like the Big Three killing mass transit funding all over the country. Or congress settling for a pathetic rail system called Amtrak.

Please link all of the bills introduced by "Mr. Bi-Partisan" Sen. McCain to solve this problem during the last few years.

Amtrak is pathetic because it is run by Congress.

I'm voting McCain because he's not Obama. If it was realistic to pick a 3rd party I would go that route. McCain was not my choice for GOP candidate, and I think he will be a terrible president. I hope I'm wrong. But for sure, BO would be way worse.

Provided it's not taken out of context? I thought you had an appreciation for hardball politics.
I do think it's an extremely revealing quote. I had wondered before what McCain would answer, were he to be asked why he's running for president. He doesn't really seem to have any real ideals to champion or plans to improve the country.
I was surprised by the candor and simplistic idiocy of that quote, especially since it was in his book - it reads more like a verbal gaffe. But I wasn't surprised that McCain feels that way. McCain thinks of the presidency as just a job that he wants.

It's happened again: Del. Annie Crockett-Stark's campaign has been struck by a young staffer's Internet postings. Two years ago it was LyAnna Johnson blogging about campaigning in a district that includes Bland County and parts of Pulaski, Giles, Tazewell and Wythe counties. Johnson wrote of trolling for votes among "rednecks" who resembled Bigfoot and freak show tattooed men who lived in places that looked like horror movie sets.
This time it was Elisabeth Beamer whose Facebook page quoted the Republican Crockett-Stark referring to campaign contributors as -- well, as something that can't be repeated in this publication.
