Biden was an excellent choice, I don't feel like he "settled."

Obama needed an attack dog who knew John McCain and can be the bad cop.
The Obama people paid attention and knew that the Kerry / Edwards and Gore / Lieberman good cop / good cop routine failed twice.

There were no less than a dozen substantive politicians who would have either served the political goals or the mission of Obama better. But Biden? Inspires no one. Period.

Iam very pleased. His foreign policy chops help the ticket. He attacks with a smile and comes across as likeable. He is Catholic who takes the train into work. Out of the Big Three of Bayh, Kaine, and Biden he was the one I wanted. I wanted nothing to do with the dream ticket of Hillary. He will roll Romney in the debates.

Biden is an aneurysm waiting to happen. As an independent, I wanted a "forward" looking choice. Biden is part of the past.
I really want to vote for my homie but depending on the McCain VP, time to go neutral.

The Dems had the chance to retake the white house, it was given to them on a silver platter. Now, with Biden, they have all but virtually guaranteed McCain as Prez.

Biden wasn't my first choice either but compared to McCain/whoever I will still vote Obama. 12 months ago I thought Hillary Clinton would be the nominee and I'd be hoping for a viable moderate independent.
The moment McCain turned his campaign over to the Bush2 machine I knew he was being supported to further the secrecy of the executive branch.
Like it or not, Obama's age and light political resume was always an issue and his choice of Biden is much like Reagan picking Bush1 and Bush2 picking Cheney.
Obama felt he needed someone to help with specific groups rather than a specific state. I would have preferred Bayh or Kaine but I wasn't consulted and I'm guessing Obama decided Biden could help in PA and OH as opposed to putting VA or IN in play.

I think Biden is a safe, solid choice. I would have voted for him in the Mich primary if he had still been on the ticket. He brings Obama foreign policy experience and campaign experience.
Maybe he's not particularly exciting or inspirational, but I'm looking for mature adults to lead the government not quasi-religious leaders to tell me how to live my life...

The only thing that is going to save Obama is that McCain will likely make an equally stupid choice of someone like Romney.

There's some truth to this although I don't think VP will necessarily sink them.

Who did you want?
I like Bayh, Kaine and Richardson.

Bayh and Kaine were terrible choices in my opinion. I think that going with Biden over them is a good choice. I'm not thrilled with the selection overall because i think that if you are going for change you don't really want to pick someone that has been part of the system since the 1970's.
I don't think this really changes much though...people don't vote for VP...and i think that Biden will roll up anyone in the debates...as long as he doesn't talk too much and get himself into trouble as he's been known to do.
I liked Bill Richardson for the spot...i hope he's got a position in the administration.
I still don't see how McCain could win this thing. the only thing that's beating Obama right now is all the scrutiny on his campaign while there has been none on McCain.
