Don't worry, I'm sure he'll still be painted as a much bigger "elitist" than 7 house owning McCain

actually, he's supposed to be the foreign policy expert. and i really can't believe you're blasting the guy for being too poor. that says nothing of his economic knowledge (he could give tons to charity for all you know). it would be better than having a rich yet sleazy guy like ted stevens. biden is a good man.

Yeah, he gives it all to charity.

No 401(k)? No accounting for his governmental pension?

What a sorry excuse for a guy that should be making a killing on the lecture circuit.

if you really want to know how knowledgable he is about economic issues, why don't you look at what really counts: his voting record. the bushes did a great job of managing their wealth yet they knew jack squat about managing the economy.

Uh, FC... the economy is due to other factors other than the POTUS, like, let's see, the rapid growth of the Chinese and Indian economies and failed housing stimulus from a system put into place (i.e. FNMAE guarantees) by FDR.

The fact that you can manage your own affairs well does not guarantee control over outside factors influencing the multi-TRILLION dollar U.S. economy. However, not being able to save DOES imply a lack of personal discipline and, implicitly, a dependence on the government to bail him out sold that lack of personal discipline cause a financial problem.

Think New Orleans whining vs Midwest pull-yourself-up-by-the-bootstraps reaction* after their respective flooding. Typical Demm vs Republican reactions.

* Including the one bag of dirt filled by Obama for the photoshoot.

Hmm interesting tidbit about Biden. Always nice to see people who have less money than you'd expect.

yes, as you say, the economy is dependent on so many factors other than the president (let alone the vice president). but just because biden doesn't have lots of assets doesn't mean that he will advise obama to buy military aircrafts on layaway or ask the speaker of the house to spot him a 20.

whatever his lack of wealth says about him is all but irrelevant to the economy's performance.

Did you also presume Sen Hutchison guilty after she was indicted?

i'm not familiar enough with that to take any position (its the truth). but you can't honestly say that you aren't at least a bit embarassed that stevens is facing all these charges and yet just won the republican primary and will defend his seat. i understand that he's innocent until proven guilty, but the guy is clearly up to some shady ****.

But it is relevant to his personality and outlook on life.

However, it is another well-known Demm proverb that personal outlooks are not relevant because their vote is always based on selling out to anyone that will give them a buck or their vote. Ethics in action!

both parties are corrupt. that is a fact. i'd rather have a VP who is honest (at least relatively) and poor than one who has lined his pockets with dirty money.

Personally, I'm not too concerned about the "Rodney Dangerfield" of Washington politics (i.e. the VEEP). But given your preoccupation with minutia and the mundane, it would seem to fit your profile.

The Republicans love to vote for a regular guy. Not regular in the sense of living a modest lifestyle, knowing what it's like to feel the sting of a mortgage or a tuition bill, or riding a train home after work. Regular in the sense of stupid. Yes, they love voting for a regular guy.
