Guess how many TV viewers tuned into Hillary's speech Tuesday?

27,000,000!

To put this in perspective, the average nightly viewership for the DNC convention in 2004 was around 5MM.

I think the Dems figured out a way to convert that nervous energy related to the Clintons into something good!

You're wrong about the viewership levels in 2004 and wrong about the numbers for Hillary.

CORRECT: Hillary lifts convention ratings; CNN again leads cable - MarketWatch

She moved the needle from 22.3 million on Monday to 25.9 million on Tuesday. A nice gain of 13%, but not quite as dramatic as you posted.

NielsenWire » Historical TV Ratings: Democratic Conventions

15.5 million viewers on average watched the 2004 DNC.

Thanks Dr. S. My point wasn't so much to show the difference between Mon and Tue. I was more interested in the diference in viewership between 2004 and 2008. I thought I heard CNBC guys say an average of 5MM for Kerry, but maybe it was 15MM. Anyway, still a very notable increase.

Todd, seriously, you're not very smart, are you???

Yes, if you were to divide the total US population by the number of viewers Tuesday night, it would be roughly 1 in 10 people. Very good Todd!

But that's really not how you evaluate the significance of the number of TV viewers watching a given event. 27,000,000 viewers is a ****LOAD of people for a political speech.

why not? so it beat out a rerun of Everyone Loves Raymond, big ****ing deal.

the fact that MORE than 93% of the population didn't give a **** should say something about how significant it is in regards to the election.

Why don't you use the statistics that is relevant - like viewers vs registered voters.

So you're saying that Hillary really didn't give a speech last night? Or that she really said something else?
Thanks for the insight.

The 2 conventions are possibly the biggest waste of time, money and bluster that American politics has to offer. I have not watched a single moment of the Dem convention and despite being a Rep will not watch a single moment of that either. Why? Because its a bunch of bluster and horse**** that means nothing in the bigger picture of who is the best candidate.

Neither one of these guys is the better candidate because they have a better Convention speech or because their convention is more entertaining and "rah rah".

Gee what could have prevented me from seeing this momentous event... hmm... anything? I am one of the supposed few that decided that it was non-event. She is not on the ticket and she is not from my state and I would never vote for her.
