Anyone else almost throw up with the GOP's Reagan love-fest last night?

I've become accustomed to their Reagan pornography that they show and collectively jerk off to at Republican events.

I can't handle more than a minute of it. I want to stay open-minded and watch it but it is so disingenuous.

Reagan hasn't been president for 20 years and he died before the LAST election. At least Teddy Kennedy is still alive and relevant.

As opposed to Teddy who has never been president and hasn't had a relevant impact on the Dem party in more than 20 years.
Bringing it strong.

Alive? Well, certainly he demonstates more lifelike movement than, let's say, Mary Jo Kopechne.
Relevant? As teats on a boar hog.

Since you are stumped - I'll help you out. It's his job to make sure the booze doesn't run out at the Christmas Party for the Dem staffers.

He's one of the senior senators in washington and he's a kennedy. To say that he isn't relevant is foolish.

Teddy did more to protect your butt in the workplace than smilin' Ron Reagan.
Folks like you astound me. You take advantage of every workplace rule, every overtime law, every hospitalization plan offered at work and every paid day off for holidays and vacations and bash a guy like Kennedy who just didn't look out for a company owner.
(and I'm a company owner) I would not be alive if it wasn't for my father's UAW Blue Cross. My mother-in-law would not have gotten out of the woods health wise except for the Teamster health plan plan. I wouldn't have sold as many lighting and electrical products to homes without the good paying jobs that had benefits so the customers would have disposable income.
Multi-stage thinking is tough Bully but don't bash Kennedy for his work in the US Senate. Bash him for his drinking, his accident but not for the years he has spent looking out for Americans with a hell of a lot less than he and his extended family have.

So you deny that Kennedy is a senior senator who wields a lot of power both within the Democratic party and in the halls of congress? He's the chairmen of one committee and two subcommittees.
Also, you must have been living in a cave for the past 50 or 60 years if you think that there isn't some sort of influence with being a Kennedy. The American public has had an interest in the Kennedy family for decades. Denying that doesn't come with it's own amount of influence is absurd.

I work in the private sector and have no union just like every employee of the company. We do not take "advantage" of anything. We earn everything we get and if we don't do it better than the competition then we go under. Our benefits are offered to our employees based on what they want and what we can afford - again they are earned, not given.
The idea that you think that employee benefits are somehow the creation of Ted Kennedy is just flat ludicrous. How about all those cumbersome regs that weigh down small businesses that Teddy and his pals pass all the time? Should we thank him for those too?

That, I do not deny. The issue of relevence is actually debatable with respect to an effective usage of the term.
Relevance is what the kennedys used to have. Being a senior senator may mean someting to the old boys network, but to informed up and comers, he ain't jack.
I lived in DC for 35 years, been involved in the political scene, have an excellent understanding of how the system works, know the role of media, and have apprehended the nature of how the various mediums of communication affect our culture.
The kennedys are old news.

Nope, you offer benefits because it's what you have to do to keep good employees. Take them away, and your workforce would disappear. If Unions hadn't strongarmed better benefits for thier workers, smaller non-union employers like yourself wouldn't offer anything better than the bigger firms. Don't act like you give benefits out of the kindness of your own heart. You have to so that you can compete for talented employees.

so being the chairmen of committees and subcommittees don't mean a damn thing? Since when?
If you can yield influence you are relevant. Plain and simple. If people pay attention to what you have to say then you are relevant. I've only been in washington for 35 hours and I at least know that.

Is that akin to the Dems showing Ted "drunky" Kennedy driving off a bridge and leaving a girl underwater? Push.
