Obama won't pull ahead in either of those states, that's the problem. Ohio = too many ignorant people, Florida = too many racist old people. #1 hit the nail on the head. Republcians are excellent bull**** artists. They can just throw up lie after lie under the guise of waving American flags and shouting patroitism. I hope I'm wrong, but I have a sick feeling we will be calling McBush "Mr. President" on 1/20/09.

The Hillary feminists have vented their frustration at Obama, but as the election draws clearer, they'll sober up and think, "Holy $#$#, am I really that mad I wanna see ole Grandpaw McCain in office taking orders from Rove/Cheney for 8 more years, plus about a 43% chance that pom-pom shaking b$#$# gets elevated into the White House? Quite Frankly, I think Palin will hammer Biden in the debates

Only because her American Flag lapel pin will be bigger and shinier than Biden's.

Palin will play the mommy card and the sex card, will be acting on how to look into the camera and smile as she makes claims designed to raise Biden's ire and look sympathetic when her script is challenged.
I just don't think hiding her until she "debates" Biden is a great idea. If I were running the campaign I would rather have her screw up in Oklahoma surrounded by a friendly crowd and regain her bearings than look like a deer in the headlights her second time in front of a national audience.

For example, home stretch coming up, all McCain has to do in a debate is pound his hands on the podium and say "life begins at conception, I am pro life." Obama has to go down the "well, we don't know if life begins at conception, it's not really murder, woman's right to choose" road which is longer.
McCain can pound his fist on the desk and say "no new taxes" while Obama has to get into a lengthy "those making under 250,000 / yr will see a modest decrease..."
McCain can tear into Obama's "San Francisco Values," and what's Obama's retort?? Phoenix, AZ values? Nashville, TN values?
Cling to guns and religion
Tax and Spend
Liberal
Elitist
Wine sipping
Arugula
$400 haircut
The right has always had a better command of the English language too. Which sounds more appealing to a voter? "Record Oil Profits Tax" or "Windfall Profits." Which sounds more appealing? "No Child Left Behind" or "Educational Reform Act of 2001?"
McCain's end game is to stick to the talking points and level absolute lies against Obama. Obama will have to either ignore the negative ads (see swiftboat 2004) or spend most of his money buying ad time to rebut him.
|
He can say all he wants, but when Americans look at what he has done it's pretty appalling. (And no, I'm not talking about his ****ing POW experience. I am so tired of that being the only thing they are running on. When your campaign manager says "this election is not about the issues" you have to hope no one else gets tired of it.)

Keep snorting the Hopium dude. For Hillary to stay relevant, Barry has to go down. She is not waiting 8 years to get back into the ring. When it comes time to pull the lever, most level headed Americans will not vote for guy who has reformed NADA in his own state or city, but claims he will do it in DC. And guess who will be standing by to pick up the pieces? Hillary.

Nailed it.
BTW - an interesting point about Palin is that although she may have rev'd up the Christian Right Wing with her rhetoric, she also energized the Left in opposition. The result was Obama receiving the largest ever contribution ($10M) within 24 hours of her speech. If Palin was looking to divide and conquer, well... she's half way there. People either love her or hate her.

Current opinion polls indicate more of the former than the latter.

Palin is a giggling girly-girl cheerleader-type with brains and brawn and an attitude. Fems have NEVER figured out how to beat that. All their sniping, whining, catty crap will slowly disappear. Tell me when any of you have witnessed it otherwise!?! As liberal as our society is, no one embraced Hillary until she started to act more like Palin. Time for "soft'ndry".

His best chance to win the election is going to be Virginia or Ohio.
Obama did terrible in Appalachia, an area where Hillary would have helped. Virginia is a wild card but lies in both the deep south and Appala-guns and religion-cia.
The tax, liberal, elite, guns, religion, abortion, black labels (I believe) are good for at least a McCain +2 (Bradley Effect) in each of those states.

How many is New Hampshire worth? You've got NH listed in McCain's line of your sig but not mentioned in this post, and NH is probably the most likely of those you list for McCain to ulitimately end up blue.

New Hampshire polling just about even right now, and I expect some serious campaigning by Lieberman to begin. That folksy NE independent streak might sway some votes.
NV/CO/NM: Obama still wins the election (274)
OH: Obama still wins the election (275)
FL: Obama still wins (282)
VA: Obama falls short (268), so Obama would have to win NH or steal a mountain state.
