Apparently, if you can't beat them...add one to the ticket.

Good point.
It's like the Republicans are trying their best to get enthusiastic about this ticket, but it's just not quite working. Palin gave them a little woody for a bit, but as woodies go, it didn't last long.

Correct.
In 2000, McCain was leading and then all of a sudden ...out of nowhere...as if by magic....a 4th or 5th place Bush skyrockets out of nowhere and wins the Iowa Cauceses.
Nothing mattered after that...Bush had the momentum...and even when McCain won the Michigan primary a few weeks later...it didn't matter.
The media had their orders and they followed them....no one had a chance after that....it was a really weird time in Republican politics that was largely forgotton.
Funny...4 years later Kerry did the same thing.....this time on the Democrat side...
There was only one thing in common with those two regarding the Iowa Caucuses...$

He got more than swiftboated. Dumbya's ads called his wife a drug adict (somewhat true) and even made fun of his adopted daughter.

It's kinda like the AFC Championship game 2 years ago....the patriots lost to Indy, but there's little doubt they would have crushed Da Bears if they represented the AFC instead of Indy

In 2000 a proxy-organization of Jim Baker and the Bush campaign released fliers in South Carolina accusing McCain of fathering "a black baby" out of wedlock.
It was their rescued baby from Bangladesh.
See what the country is forced to deal with?

The idea is to win.....I don't think many people outside of New England like the Red Sox either

So the idea is for the president to win and than piss off 67% of the people?
That's the GOP model?

I don't think McCain ran in 04....so if you want to accurately use your comparison you need to use his rating at the end of his first administration...I'll help you out, it was 63%, the highest rating of any Presindent since 1963

What was McSame's excuse in 2000?
Bush was a virtual unknown going up against the "original" maverick?

So let me get this straight; the Dems are excited about a guy who couldn't beat Bobby Rush in the 2000 primary for the 1st congressional district in Illinois?
In fact, he lost that race by a whopping 29%.

Of course you would believe that...Bobby Rush was a founder of the Illinois branch of the Black Panthers in the late 60's...In 1968, was sentenced to 6 months in jail for an illegal weapons conviction. In 1971, the black panthers in Illinois were still describing him as the "Deputy Minister of Defense".
He strongly supports reparations for descendants of African-American slaves and is a supporter of the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations, which wants taxpayers to pay $8 trillion to black Americans. He even told a congressional hearing that "The future of race relations will be determined by reparations for slavery."
Rush is also among the biggest supporters of gun control in Congress. He proposed legislation that would regulate the sale and purchase of bullets. "Ultimately, I would like to see the manufacture and possession of handguns banned," said Rush, "…that's the endgame."
In 1999, his 29-year-old son Huey Rich was shot and killed. "My son's death was a senseless death," he told supporters the following day at Operation PUSH headquarters, blaming the gun rather than the criminal who pulled the trigger. "We've got to rid our communities of guns."
In 2002, his nephew was arrested and charged with murder in a case involving a South Side drug deal. 2 years earlier Rush had proposed a government study of the decriminalization of illicit drugs as a way to reduce the violent gang "turf battle over drugs."
In 2007,his son Jeffrey, was fired from his job as assistant supervisor of security at Fox Valley Transition Center in Aurora, IL for for having sex with female inmates.
