I have no sympathy.

What I do not understand is how people can continue to defend the choice of her as a running mate in light everything that has happened since her selection.

She's not exactly bright.

The conservative talking heads last night, when asked to respond to the KC interview: "Well, she did energize the Republican base. McCain wouldn't even be in this race today if not for Palin. The media has been very nasty to her. She is doing fine."

How can you watch something like this and NOT feel sorry for her. I hope her campaign goes down in flames, but this is just brutal to watch.

From part 2 of the Couric interview on Palin's foreign policy experience... (yes, CBS has a 30 second ad before the clip)

o.k. I just pissed myself. Are you ****ing kidding me. Is there any way you guys can get that spelling bee champ and Sarah Palin in the same room together and have Tom Brokaw interview them both at the same time?

God, it's just ****ing brutal. It's like she's just throwing anything out there to see what sticks. Trading missions, Putin, air force missions that take off from her state, Canada.

This is a prime example why I think McCain is off his rocker.

How could he honestly look at her and think that if something should happen to him that she could honestly step in and effectively lead the free world? Christ I've seen 8th graders who express themselves more clearly than she does.

McCain appointed her to win over Hillary voters and to try and out "Rock star" Obama by giving his campaign someone who would generate a greater pop culture buzz. He did it with absolutely no consideration about how the country would be run if he didn't finish out his term, in short he appointed her to on the most superficial reasons to try and win and could care less about what the possible consequences were for the US.

I give him credit for knowing the voter well enough to try and appeal to the lowest common denominator. But fortunately she's looked SO inept beyond belief, despite McCain's attempts to hide her, that I think even the most jilted Hillary voter will have a hard time voting for this ditz bag.

I liked it when she said "It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure an eye is being kept on (Russia)"

Aside from having terrible grammar, what exactly are "Those" that are being sent out? F-15's?, warships?, ground troops?, sled dogs with spy cameras?

I'm not sure that was what she meant.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess she's referring to the fact that, in the past, Soviet fighters and bombers on training flights would occasionally "accidentally" stray into US airspace and have to be escorted back to international waters by US Air Force fighters. The purpose of course to test US defense readiness.

However I'm not completely sure how commonplace this has been since the fall of the Soviet Union, and even if it still does occur, I'm not sure how the Governor fits into all of this since its military officers that order the planes to be intercepted and the Governor doesn't even fall into the Chain of Command for active military.

Seems to me the Governor probably finds out about it after all the orders have been given and the incident is over. Hardly qualifies as "foreign policy" experience to me.

Actually, when this issue was first raised by Palin backers, the military stated that they do not confer with Governors before, during or after missions.
