PITTSBURGH - A John McCain volunteer in Pittsburgh who said she was robbed and sexually assaulted because of her political views has admitted to fabricating the story, police sources told a TV station. KDKA TV added that one source said Ashley Todd would face charges.

Pittsburgh Police are investigating a report by a campaign staffer for John McCain that she was mugged and the letter B was cut into her face.
Police say the 20-year-old woman, who is from Texas, reported that the attack occurred yesterday in one of the city's eastern neighborhoods.
But they said the woman told them she did not seek medical treatment.
More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

the assault, which happened outside the view of the bank's surveillance cameras.

The robber is described as a dark-skinned black man, 6 feet 4 inches tall, 200 pounds with a medium build, short black hair and brown eyes. The man was wearing dark colored jeans, a black undershirt and black shoes.

Exactly, if an enraged attacker is carving letters into your face, it's not going to be done nicely and neatly enough so the cut is just barely deep enough to show on your face (and not hurt very much), yet not deep enough to bleed all over (and hurt a hell of a lot, and not heal neatly in a couple of weeks).

Plus if the attacker is going to go to the trouble of carving letters into you (thus earning an ADW charge), he's going to force you back to the ATM and force you to take out all your money, not just $60.00.
