I recognize that smoking causes me to do worse in school an stuff, but so does drinking and ****ing and pretty muhc anything else fun if done in excess. There should just be a rule that smart people like rocket scientists and airline pilots cant do it. Otherwise, toke away!

Just like rocket scientists and pilots shouldn't build rockets or fly planes drunk.

Its a shame RCMB (and RCMB-taken-over) polls have no bearing in the real world.

This substance should be legalized for economic stimulus.

Taxing it will just cause the people who currently smoke dope to keep buy it illegally (avoiding high taxes and Gov. control). Legalizing it will just tell our nation's adolescents that this is socially acceptable, if not encouraged. I would prefer my children grow up with out smoking dope.

Do we really need more dope smokers in the this world?

I read that legal pot would cost half the price of what it is now, even with taxes factored in. And regarding the social aspect... alcohol is legal and far more dangerous. So what kind of "message" are we sending to the adolescents right now?

Yeah, this will end up in wells.

Dude, read the article....

Unless I have heard wrong, it is currently legal MEDICALLY in CA. You need to get a prescription for it and then go to certain vendors that have a license to sell it to people with a prescription.

Right now this guy is talking about legalizing it completely for EVERYONE, regardless of medical condition. You only have to be over 21, it is going to be taxed, and I imagine you would be able to buy it at most stores. (Of course it would be still be illegal federally which brings up a whole host of problems)

Big, big difference...

Not really. It's very easy to get a prescription for whatever ails ya

You get the point though...

Big difference between having to get a prescription and going to certain vendors, and realizing you ran out and running up to the corner store to pick some more up. Also, I would imagine there would be a HUGE difference in the amount of tax dollars coming in with pot being legal to all 21+.

The big deal is that if it happens (and it probably won't) it would be the first big step toward full legalization.

Like how people buy moonshine to avoid the high taxes and Gov. control of liquor?

Then it's your job as a parent to convey this to them. Just because something is legal doesn't mean it's right or wrong. This is why laws are appealed and rewritten. There is no one true answer. But, if you feel so strongly about this, you should take the personal initiative to tell them about this. Allow them to make the right decision.

Now, I don't smoke but I believe the least amount of government intervention in my daily life, the better. If its someone's personal choice to smoke then I think they should be allowed to, just like I am allowed to choose to drink or not. What's "acceptable" or "not acceptable" is just a matter of dates. Prohibition is a great example of this. Simply my opinion.

Don't plan on being the poster child for legalization anytime soon.

Well, I know a lot of angry drunks, but in my whole life, I've only met 1 angry pothead.

3 ways we pulled out of the great depression, one of those three was the repealing of prohibition.

And any state that does not legalize at least Medical marijuana is nothing more than a state of blind, hypocritical and completely damning judgmental asses. Have several friends at the end of their battle with Cancer, and the only thing keeping them in any kind of good way is pot.

legalizing it in michigan would be a great way to get people to move back or get more people to move to the state.
