Obama's Staged Photo-Op Visit to Iraq

* About that Obama Iraq Visit*by*Macsmind
Got this email from a sergeant that was there.
“We were pre-screened, asked by officials “Who voted for Obama?”, and then those who raised their hands were shuffled to the front of the receiving line. They even handed out digital cameras and asked them to hold them up.”

Take a look at the picture at AP and notice all the cameras are the same models? Coincidence? I think not.

How do you make sure a crowd likes you? Screen out anybody who didn’t vote for you. Even if they’re serving their country under your watch.

Flopping Aces and Redstate have followed up on this. Will they be the only ones?

Not a fan of this stuff. I hated it when Bush did it, I hate it now that Obama's doing it.

while Obama is a truly great American, he has a long way to go before he gets to the point of offering a fake plastic turkey to troops...

Quote:
WASHINGTON — President Bush's Baghdad turkey was for looking, not for eating.

In the most widely published image from his Thanksgiving Day trip to Baghdad, the beaming president is wearing an Army workout jacket and surrounded by soldiers as he cradles a platter with a golden-brown turkey.

The bird looks perfect, with bunches of grapes and other trimmings completing a Norman Rockwell image that evokes bounty and security in one of the most dangerous parts of the world.

But as a small sign of the many ways the White House maximized the impact of the 2½-hour stop at the Baghdad airport, administration officials said yesterday that Bush picked up a decoration, not a serving platter.

TURKEY NOT FAKE: NYT

In an historic media first, the New York Times has published a fake turkey correction:
An article last Sunday about surprises in politics referred incorrectly to the turkey carried by President Bush during his unannounced visit to American troops in Baghdad over Thanksgiving. It was real, not fake.

I'll trust the fact that bu$h picks up a fake plastic turkey to present it to the brave US troops over the word of the mainstream media any day...

That staged stuff has NEVER happened before with any other president.

Those Marine One helicopters just happened to start up just before Reagan would walk out going past reporters.

Clinton and everyone else just happened to have a United Nations collection of children as a backdrop for every education realted announcement. Same for babies surrounding Bush2 on stem cell announcements.

We can all thank Reagan's Press Secretary Ron Ziegler who learned the art of staging while working as a guide in Disneyland's Adventure land while he attended USC..

Ziegler was Nixon's first Press Secretary.

You are correct and he brought staging to a new level for Nixon. Reagan's folks and all who have followed have just kept on tweeking.

Jimmy Carter wasn't big on staging and his Sweater Speech proved it.

It was a real turkey, but it wasn't for eating. It was just there to look good. Which makes this account completely accurate:

The turkey was just a simple decoration, a piece of flair. And so was the bird he was holding.
