The infraction system and Wells Hall
It's been a while since the original infraction system was established and since the wells reset I've had some requests to discuss the infraction system and how we use it here. This thread is intended to clarify the infraction system and describe how infractions will generally be applied in Wells.
You can find the original link about the infraction system here
Mostly, the infractions are pretty straight forward. I don't think we'll see too many recruit bashing infractions issued in Wells. The only change is that an infraction for 'over the line' has been added. Frankly, I haven't decided how over the line should be applied in Wells and I'm looking for input and suggestions from you guys. What would you like to see? What I'm thinking is that 'over the line' will encompass things like thread hijacking and feuding. Feuding, as I see it, is where a poster continually follows another poster from thread to thread and continually gets into confrontations and spats with the poster.
Generally speaking I consider personal attacks to be anything that would be regarded as an insult in normal conversation. You insult somebody's intelligence, that's an infraction. You make an insulting remark about somebody's wife or kids, you get an infraction (and in all probability a time out). As far as calling somebody gay is concerned, if you know that a poster is gay and that poster is ok with that being public knowledge on the board, that's fine. If you don't know that about a poster and/or the poster isn't ok with it, you're going to get an infraction.
Naturally, the mods will be reviewing posts on a case-by-case basis and will exercise discretion as they see fit. My interpretations of the infractions do not in any way indicate how another mod will interpret infractions or restrict them in using their own judgementin applying infractions in Wells. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, please feel free to PM me.

Mick - your efforts while commendable - are futile, counterproductive and a waste of time. Unless someone is complaining - just ignore it. Everyone will be better off.

Few more things to note:
Please, please do not attempt to circumvent a ban by using another screen name. If I discover an alternate login, I will permanently ban the alternate and extend the ban that you're currently serving. If you have family members who post from the same computer, it would be advisable to give us some sort of indication so that we can avoid any inadvertent bannings.
I am also willing to offer assistance in enforcing the terms of wagers and bets made between posters in Wells. Any such bet or wager must be publicly made and the terms formally agreed to by the parties. Posters who renege on bets can be held subject to infractionary penalties, or any such enforcement measure as outlined in the original bet.

Mick and strangelove are not the only mods on here. They are just more vocal

Modification - apparently helping to directly enforce bets is above and beyond my jurdistiction. I can only offer encouragement and moral support.
Carry on.

This is so silly. What constitutes following people around? One thread, two threads? Isn't discussion what the board is about? If two people disagree politically, doesn't it only make sense that they would disagree with each other in more than 1 thread?
Also, this is a very arbitrary rule (not that this is surprising) and will simply allow the mods to continue to enforce the rules in a biased way based on their political views. But I suppose that is what you want, so I guess everything is fine after all.

In case it isn't already obvious, Lil' Ze has been escorted to the penalty box for violations which can only be described as an egregious breach of decorum. No matter what you feel about the GOP, please do not post pictures of KKK rallies in your effort to describe the average republican.

Talking out of turn...that's a paddling. Looking out the window...that's a paddling. Staring at my sandals...that's a paddling. Paddling the school canoe...ooh, you better believe that's a paddling.

But you CAN call another poster a Nazi and get away with it.

I didn't realize there had ever been a thread in Wells where someone didn't insult somebody's intelligence.

Not only that, but a couple days ago MSU 73 flat out told me that I was not intelligent and he did it about 4 or 5 posts in a row.
The mods let that go though since he is a liberal.

Just so you know, regular users don't see it when mods issue infractions to other posters. Posts that get infractions don't always warrant outright deletion.

So it's acceptable for 73 to spend half his day calling people on this board "idiot"...."moron"....and "stupid"
