tOfficial Election '09 Thread

can't wait until Christy Lee Clapsaddle (R) of Pigs Breath, Arkansas is elected to the town council and the mainstream media, along with right wing hate radio, proclaim it a "referendum on President Obama"...

CNN had a breaking story this morning that conservatives all across the nation were waking up with a woody. (Even the women.)

to think that the party that's not in the majority would pick up seats in a non-presidential election year...

I mean.. when does THAT happen?

Sounds like a typical morning for Ann C.

I'm glad it's almost over. The NJ Governor's race has been all over the airwaves here. In one corner, a spineless wimp in Corzine, in the other corner, a pathological liar and conservative toadie in Christie. It's like choosing between hospital food and airline food.

Obviously Illinois' primaries occur in February but since this is an election thread, it's worth noting that the gubernatorial race will be worth keeping an eye on. Several Republicans are running, including former state party Chairman Andy McKenna and former IL Atty. Gen Jim Ryan. More interesting is the Democratic side for obvious reasons. Gov. Pat Quinn is obviously running and has received the backing of Cook County Democrats. Dan Hynes, current Comptroller, is running against Quinn and of course he's trying to use Blago's name as much as possible even though Blago kept Quinn completely out of the loop and Quinn needed time to actually determine how badly Illinois was financially because of GovRod's covert ways.

His opponent spent a lot of money in the primary and didn't campaign real well in NW Virginia. He's a back country Virginia native who's learning the hard way that the hill people were not and never will be happy about Obama winning in 2008.

Plus it isn't very often that Virginia elects a governor that's in the same party as a sitting president.

The race in VA has been interesting to watch with Deeds being labeled as sexist and a flip-flopper.

Those were Deeds attack ads on his opponent who has written some very conservative papers 20 or so years ago. Deeds made a decision to go after his people being rural Virginia and didn't work hard for the NW and urban votes that helped Obama win in 2008 and elected the las t two Democrats.

The Associated Press has projected that Chris Christie has won the Governor's race in New Jersey.

He will be the next GOP governor to be tossed out after being unable to deliver on reducing New Jersey's amazing property tax dilemma. It doesn't matter whose elected in that state. No one is ever happy with the property taxes and no one has done anything about them for the 40 years I've known they were sky high.

Back then a new guy moved into what was a very expensive neighborhood. They had a house 3 times the size of their NJ home and annual MI taxes were 1/6th of NJ's.

If they re-ran last years election Obama still carries NJ and VA due to higher voter turnout. Elections held one year after a presidential election often don't bode well for the party that captures the White House.

The deep pocketed, Wall Street Investment Banker, big business shill, spent $30MM to buy the election, lost to a teabagger. and a lousy candidate to boot.

Obama was deeply invested in this race. Springsteen will call for a recount.

So are you moving to New Jersey now? I doubt it. You get wound up in knots about taxes already. You wouldn't last 3 months there.
