She asked where I stood on the issue. I said "I believe that sharing copyrighted songs is theft, but I also believe the record industry needs to adapt to changing times."

She said "We've already got that perspective covered" and ended the call.

What she meant was "You seem to have a nuanced view, and we don't do nuance." Fox wants people who fall hard on one side of an issue or the other, so they can get a "debate" going. So they need a handful of liberals/Dems to help create heat while appearing to be balanced.

As for MSNBC, the host of Morning Joe is a conservative and they do bring in conservatives as well as liberals. The discussions are civil. Obviously Rachel Maddow is a liberal, but she does have conservatives on her show, and not for a shout fest. She asks tough questions but she is polite and respectful.

Obviously Olbermann has a strong liberal bias and he tends to go to his stable of liberal pundits most of the time.
If you have watched much O'Reilly, he has a guest on each side of the far edges of a topic so he can be viewed as the voice of reason. I generally don't care for O'Reilly, but I do like some of his guests commentary.

Estrich encouraged Democratic pollster Doug Schoen to join Fox Nation at the end of the 2004 election. Weary of the unpredictability of other networks’ schedules, he was happy to sign on — and says he’s encouraged his Democratic friends to do the same.

“They are the most professional network of any I have dealt with,” he said. “If you are a Democrat who wants to deliver mindless talking points on Fox, it’s probably best to go to MSBNC and hope you get a chance to recite them. I think Fox encourages critical views of all sides, asks different kinds of questions and wants to have diversity of view.”

Beckel believes Fox viewers are more open to the Democratic side of the story than stereotypes might suggest. And indeed, a 2008 Pew Research survey found that while almost half of viewers who regularly watch Fox News identify as Republican or Republican leaning, 39 percent tip Democratic and 12 percent have no stated angle at all.

Liberals are so enlightened and mentally superior to conservatives that they don't need to read the news. Their study of philosophy allows all important news to come to them in a epiphany.

So you have no response to anything I pointed out. All you can do is highlight a couple of Fox News employees who say nice things about Fox News. Do you have any idea how gullible that makes you look?

While I'm pretty sure you're joking, let's let Shep Smith weigh in on this:

What you posted is of little significance.

Thousands?!? of these e-mails a day? You don't say, I guess I believe because it was reported on during a "news" timeslot and, thus, is fair and balanced. Thank God this isn't just O'Really or Beck's opinion.

I'd sure like to hear the some right-wing perspective on this clip but I won't be holding my breath.

I'm glad you're not holding your breath; the righties aren't jumping at the chance to respond.

Fox gets lots of crazy email. I'm sure CBS, CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, etc receive very few crazy emails. The context Smith was making was to paint the crazy gunman as a crazy gunman.

That was good.

Isn't that exactly what the 24-hour news networks have done to steal their audience? You really think the problem is that Americans are looking for real, professional, unbiased news and they can't find it? The problem IMO is most Americans would rather hear about American Idol and Michael Jackson dieing and what not.

Wixom says the death threats are probably coming from liberals, and now you say that the other outlets get crazy e-mails, too. Both of you are full of s***.

The problem is that right-wing hillbillies are being manipulated, and they're getting more angry and violent with each idiotic rant by guys like Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, Savage, and the other conservative media clowns.

Sure, Brian Williams, Katie Couric, and Keith Olbermann probably get some crazy e-mails. I'd bet anything that the vast majority of them come from idiots stirred up by right-wing media.

The truth is that you're much more likely to get death threats by giving a liberal viewpoint on Fox News than by giving a conservative viewpoint on any outlet. You and Wixom both know it, but I'm sure you'll just keep defending your conservative media heroes.

"More and more, it seems like people are taking the extra step and getting the gun out." Does that really sound like he's talking about one crazy gunman?
