I agree to some extent but disagree a bit as well. If this tape (or tapes/pics, whatever) was made years ago pre-beginning a journey of seeking a holier life, then I would say "sin free" is not so necessary. However, I look at Newt Gingrich, who is extremely articulate and has a way of communicating, has given up his opportunity to speak for a religiously conservative group. Even if he truly has changed, his past, repeated actions have disqualified him in my eyes.
For me, the bigger issue is, why would a conservative group look to someone who shows off their body as a way to make a living, even consider this person as a spokesperson in the first place? Even without the tapes, the whole "beauty pageant" thing is the direct opposite that a religous conservative would profess and support.

Heaph, you and I agree. For whatever reasons, too many political groups and special interest groups still underestimate the collective memory of our internet connected society. Too many are too anxious to bypass what they see as a chance at the spotlight right now.

It took years for nude photos of Marilyn Monroe saw the light of day. Back in the 50's-60's and even 70's a powerful outfit like movie studios or a pageant company had the muscle and means to keep things like that quiet. Now all it takes is a laptop to seek out the rumored photographer or videographer to verify and its all done.

I wasn't talking about the 1953 shoot Playboy published. There were far less "artistic" photos and movies that were never shown until decades after her death.

If Enrico even told us what year his wife was in Playboy it would take someone less than 24 hours to find out with the right questions to the right people.

It all goes back to people taking the opportunity to get in front of the camera speaking out on morality thinking their past won't catch up with them. Your past's importance goes up exponentially when you become a "public person".
