Obama's "Pet Goat" Moment

We all know how the Bush haters loved to bring up W finishing up with a bunch of elementary school kids after being informed that the 9/11 attacks were occuring. He was in room full of kids and finished up and left quickly without panic. I don't know what they wanted him to do - stand up and scream, "We're all gonna die - duck and cover!"?

Well at least Bush didn't feel the need to do political shout-outs - I guess they didn't want to reload Obama's teleprompter.

Obama's Frightening Insensitivity Following Shooting | NBC Chicago

After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective.

But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president
making introductory remarks
. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior's Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner." Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms.

Not particularly good planning, I agree, but I think a single gunman shooting people on an army base is a bit different from the largest terrorist attack in our country's history.

I noticed that too, I thought it was odd that you wouldn't immediately go to expressing sympathy for the victims families.

Pay attention! The shooter is the only victim here. He was harassed because of his radical islamo-fascist views.

Strangelove, you're reaching again. Bush was the worst president in the history of the United States, and 9/11 was his greatest failure. It's not just that he continued reading a children's book as our country was attacked, it's that he paid more attention to that book than to the daily briefing he received on August 6th of that year.

What Obama did was fine; he handled his scheduled commitment but shortened the speech to address the shootings. What's the problem?

The problem is Obama was elected president and the G-NO-P along with its core voting blocks will not rest until he is out of office.

To equate what happened at Fort Hood to what happened on th morning of 9-11 is infantile.
