CBO says Health Care Legislation will reduce deficit.

A net reduction in federal deficits of $130 billion over the 2010-2019 period. Republican's up in arms.

Sure, Medicare was only projected to cost 12 billion by 1990 based on government projections, real cost? 100 billion. Today's cost? 500 billion. So whatever they say. It's not like the government has a history of being off by 2-300% or more.

Obama's own economic team said that passing the stimulus package would result in the unemployment rate at 8% and then reducing from there. How did that work out?

Trust in Government Numbers Fail.

I notice how you're not mentioning the INCREASE in taxes to make this "deficit reduction". A program that costs us 1 billion trillion dollars would be a reduction in the deficit if we're collecting 1 billion trillion plus 1 dollars to pay for it.

What to believe?

The CBO says health care legislation will reduce the deficit, reality says health care legislation will reduce the quality of care.

edge: reality

No. Against people making up numbers, and against them not being called on it. If you think this reduces the deficit, you are being blinded by your allegiance.

Even when health care legislation gets through the Senate, the fiasco known as conference committee awaits.

On another note, the pro-choice proponents need to back the **** off. As I've mentioned before, I'm personally pro-life but wouldn't deny someone else the right to make that choice. However, putting abortion funding in the bill isn't worth risking the entire bill over.

Pro-choice doesn't know how to back off. It is a matter of pride and an example of ignorance.

House legislation would likely have a "small" effect on jobs.

Would the House-passed health care bill make a tough economy worse and wipe out more jobs, as claimed in a TV ad from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce?

Or would it help small business and encourage economic growth, as claimed in an ad sponsored by a big labor union and other supporters of federal efforts to expand health insurance coverage?

Who’s right? Will jobs be lost as businesses are required to cover their employees? Or will the economy, and jobs picture, brighten as almost all Americans acquire health insurance?

The truth is the House legislation would likely have a "small" effect on jobs, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. A RAND Corp. expert says the job loss would be "quite minimal." A third estimate puts the job loss at several hundred thousand low-wage jobs, or well under one-half of 1 percent of all jobs. Furthermore, the bill doesn’t kick in until the year 2013, and by then the economy is expected to be much improved, with unemployment down to 5.8 percent according to CBO’s projections.

Taxes on this POS start in 2010 - benefits start sometime in 2013 or maybe 2014. However, the CBO can only markup the bill in front of them so if you take in money for 3 years and don't pay it out and then rely on a separate bill reducing Medicare by $500 billion then yeah sure it will be budget neutral.

Tell me about Medicare cuts again .....

Out years - it's always in the out years and then when the out years arrive the cuts magically disappear.

I'll give you credit for one thing, you actually have the guts to publicly admit to believing this garbage the congress is trying to feed us. I have this great bridge for sale and it's cheap, want to buy it?

So what congress is asking me to do is like selling me a house in 2010 and I have to make the mortgage payments for 4 years before I can live in it. Thanks but I think I can find a better deal.

I think we need to reduce the deficit but through cutting spending, not by raising taxes...

not only that but then the bureaucrats are going to tell you how much energy you are allowed to use, how much water and when you are allowed to use and what type of food and amount you can put in your fridge (if they let you even have a fridge) and you get a golf cart to put in your garage. oh, and if you want to keep your car and you don't buy the golf cart... to bad, either pay it or go directly to jail.
liberal utopia is just around the corner.

The CBO is now an expert on jobs?

"Several hundred thousand low-wage jobs." Um, isn't that the Democrats' base?
